What does the fox say?

Last weekend, the annual Christmas Toy Fair happened in SM Megamall. Boyfriend and I decided to check it out, just to see if there's anything worth buying. Entrance fee was Php50 (a little above a dollar). The Toy Fair occupied only one of the three Megatrade Halls, so the whole place was cramped. (What with some big-ass costumes of some cosplayers.)

We went around. And went around some more. Not finding anything worth buying, we went around one more time. And true to the saying that the third time's the charm, I was able to buy two figures:

Yes, those are two small figures that I was able to get for Php200 each. Not a bad deal. Quite sad that this is all that I was able to score. I also saw the Carbonite Han Solo calling card case but I didn't want to shell out Php1500 for something so small which will probably go on sale at some of the online stores by next year. I can wait. We also saw some of those Collectors' Edition Disney dolls (Aladdin and Jasmine, Snow White and Prince Charming, Aurora and Prince Edward(?)) that cost an arm and a leg at Php11,800 each pair. I really wanted the Aladdin/Jasmine one but meh, too expensive.

Despite the depressing Toy Fair hauls, my preorder arrived and was delivered by the ChekwaToys owner:

At least I got the Kurama fox version. So I got 3/5 of the Kotobukiya Yu Yu Hakusho figures. Which is good coz I'm streamlining. *cue sarcastic laugh*

I'll probably post a mini-review of the Kurama figure one of these days.

Otakai Christmas Party and other hauls

Without finding anything else to buy at the Toy Fair (and Megamall in general), me and the boyfriend decided to go to Greenhills. Otakai's Christmas party was scheduled at 7PM in GH, so we decided to kill some time by doing some usual rounds. Kamadoma (an Otakai member) was with us -- met him as we were going back to the Toy Fair to get some exchange gift items and some prize solicitations from uchihaitachix (another Otakai member who has a booth at the fair).

That last one there was a blow and it took me less than 5 minutes to go back to Maxicollector and purchase the humongous Han. Cannot resist. Really.

Then it was time for the Christmas party. My name was picked for the raffle and I got this:

The party was a blast! Food always tastes better if you eat it with good company :)

Gundam Model Kit Contest

I actually forgot about this lol.. I was waiting for the boyfriend last week in Megamall, so I decided to kill some time in Toy Kingdom.

Guess what was in there!

And my personal favorite...

A senshi Gundam! ~lovelove~

I never liked watching Gundam, but I like building kits. I have a lot of the Sangokuden. And darn it, I'm so envious of how they make the Sangokuden T_T Okay, not just the SD kits, but kits in general. I cannot comprehend how some people just have so much creativity that they can paint Gundams in a battle-damaged way, or how they can create dioramas, or put hair(!) on them.

I need to hone my building skills and hopefully I can progress to panel-lining then painting.
