[Alter] Maeda Keiji

I got my Maeda Keiji last week from CW Toys. As any collector with a nice new camera would do, I took pictures as soon as I got home from Greenhills. And as any collector who is swamped with work would do, I'm posting the pictures a 6 days after I took them.

Better late than never.

One thing I noticed was that the boxed figure was HEAVY. Upon opening, I found out that it was mainly the umbrella that was heavy.

Scantily dressed with only the open kimono to show you that she's supposed to be a samurai, I was not disappointed with her. Alter did a good job with the sculpt and all the fine details -- I guess that's partly the reason why I'm completing the Hyakka Ryouran line.

Those boobs.

The bikini holding her together is actually made of rubber...or at least it feels like it.

Did I mention that her umbrella is huge?

Good news to Philippine toy collectors!

My friend, owner of the newly-opened CW Toys, is now expanding his services to include Western toys!

Visit his FaceBook group page to see the items that he currently has (anime and video game figures) or message him to inquire about toys that you want from the US.

The LEGO Movie spending spree continues

I went to two Data Blitz stores over the weekend to see if they had Bravely Default. Sadly, both stores are out of stock :(

Because my money wants to leave me so badly, I looked for something else to buy.

Surprise! The World Ends With You is available! I've been searching for this game for a long time. I played this a long time ago in my DS but unfortunately, I only downloaded the ROM in a flash cart and it was corrupted.

the world ends with you, square enix, nintendo ds, video game

Then... The LEGO Movie Videogame! Boyfriend and I were debating as to whether we should get this for the 3DS or PSVita.

"Better graphics" was his main argument.

"I'm buying" was mine.

The LEGO Movie

WE FINALLY SAW THE LEGO MOVIE LAST FRIDAY!!!

 It was awesome!

Amidst all the bouquet-toting couples, boyfriend and I decided to watch The LEGO Movie -- because we stopped caring about Valentine's Day. We initially thought that we couldn't because Sure Seats (where we buy our tickets in advance to avoid lines) showed that Greenbelt was showing only one movie: a love story one. Blech. Luckily, they added more and The LEGO Movie was one of them.

The story was lighthearted and the dialogue was funny. +++ points because Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman were part of the voice actors as Bad/Good Cop and Virtuvius respectively. It was a good concept for a movie, though predictable (cue "Man from Upstairs"), but it was well-made. No boring parts for me!

And the theme song! I've been singing it since last night!

Anyway, we dropped by Hobbes & Landes after the movie because, well... See for yourself:

Yep, they were already selling the mini-figures. Series 1 is out and it has 16 figures in total. The series includes Emett, Bad/Good Cop, Lucy, Shakespear, Lincoln, Business and some of Business' robots.

We got Business, Emett, Panda mascot and Bad/Good Cop.

President Business has his Octan cup

Emett has his instruction manual. Unfortunately, he doesn't come with hair outside of his hardhat.

Bad Cop with his phone and handcuffs.

Turn his head around and you get the drawn creepy Good Cop face!

The Panda Mascot comes with a mini Panda..so cute!

Alternatively, you can remove the panda head to reveal a boring guy underneath

I really wanted to get the Mermaid, unfortunately they were all out. Bummer. Hopefully, series 2 has Unikitty. I love Unikitty. Oh and Virtuvius!

[Kotobukiya] Jaina Solo

As promised, here are a bunch of pictures I took of Jaina Solo using my EOS M. The 22mm pancake lens was still used for these photos.

Jaina's actually my first figure from Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line. I've always found the entire line pretty but there were just too many of them being released. It was a bit of a turn off for me knowing that I had a lot of figures to buy if I'm going to start collecting this line. Fortunately, they decided to do Star Wars.

I immediately had Jaina on pre-order. I'm getting Mara Jade as well.

The details on the helmet is amazing.

She has her own lightsaber! It has a really tiny peg that attaches to her finger.

You can actually customize the base. The one on the picture is a removable insert. Once removed, it just shows the "Star Wars" logo.

Out in the sun!

Imagine it's in Endor.

Imagine again.

[Alter] Momohime

Since I've been meaning to try how my camera fares with taking pictures of my figures, I decided to test it on two lovely ladies: Momohime and Jaina Solo.

This post will feature - as the title implies - Momohime.

I've always been fond of my Momohime figure. Alter did a good job with her sculpt. She comes with extra hands (and sleeves) so you can change one aspect of her pose.

Just look at that face!

I decided use our garden for "added effect." Since her base features rocks and running water, it blended well with our soil and whatever foliage fell on the ground.

I currently have a 22mm "pancake" lens and primarily used the macro settings of my camera (all else is on auto). I'm pretty happy that my camera takes good pictures of figures and that I can adjust the focus on what I want to emphasize.

...next post will be Jaina.
